"I feel my husband has been written off"

About: Dorset County Hospital / Respiratory medicine

(as a carer),

My husband has full blown Emphysema and other medical problems. We both feel that he has been written off by the NHS.

Because of the lack of good treatment from the NHS, my husband has panic attacks if he has to go to the hospital. He is very afraid of being neglected as this has happened in the past.

The last time my husband was in hospital, I had to bring him food in and also take him down to the restaurant to feed him. The reason is the nurses kept messing up the menus and other patients had suffered because of this. I come into my husband's hospital room to find him laying in his own faeces and also the last time he was in hospital I could not find him, only to learn he was in the toilet for 2 hours waiting for help from the nurse.

There is no use complaining as it will only fall on deaf ears and even by writing this, I fear the backlash.

Dear Mrs Leowolf

I can find no record of a patient called Mr Leowolf at Dorset County Hospital.

I am very concerned to hear of your experiences of NHS care and wanted to contact you to find out where this has happened, so that I can support you in how to raise your concerns. I am sorry to hear that you don't feel confident in the NHS complaints system and fear a backlash.

Please let me reassure you that this will not be the case and if you would like to email me or speak to me please contact me on

01305 254786 or sarah.silverton@dchft.nhs.uk

Yours sincerely

Update posted by Mrs Leowolf (a carer)

Of course you would find no patient by the name of Mr Leowolf, as this site asks us not to use our real names.

Why would you make such a statement?
