First of all, please accept our apologies if there was more we could have done to explain our reasons for not performing surgery at your weight or to help you access support with losing weight. We are also sorry to hear that you are still having problems two years later and would like to invite you to come and see us again so we can see how we can help you. One of our consultant surgeons who specialises in weight loss as well as general surgery has said he would be happy to see you. Without knowing your full clinical background, we can't comment specifically on the reasons your surgeon did not feel it was appropriate to perform surgery at that time and advised you to lose weight first. It’s worth explaining, though, that conditions vary so it may be appropriate to perform one kind of procedure on someone at their current weight but not appropriate to perform a different procedure. Sometimes it is also important for patients to make lifestyle changes - like losing weight - in order for surgery to be successful. As you are still experiencing problems it is important that you see someone again.
