"Excellent care in AAU"

About: Hull Royal Infirmary

I was taken by ambulance to A & E on the evening of 3rd January. I was treated well by the staff in A & E although they didn't seem to be too busy and there were several staff standing around chatting. (This was about 11pm through to 3am when I understood A & E was always very busy) I was then taken to AAU. The care by the day staff who came on at 7am was excellent. Particular mention to a particular auxiliary nurse and the staff nurse. They looked after me and surrounding patients with professionalism, care, compassion, dignity & respect. Importantly I would like to say the care they gave the very elderly lady next to me was brilliant to witness. They each spoon fed her a meal, gently coaxing her and encouraging her to drink fluids. They carefully washed her & turned her, soothing her when she was crying out in pain. Even when I was discharged later that day they were very pleasant to me, wishing me well. They never stopped all day (apart from breaks). They should be very proud of themselves!
