"Parking at the Royal Free Hospital"

About: Royal Free Hospital

(as a carer),

My pregnant wife fell sick and had to rush her to the Royal Free maternity ward Triage at around 1am to about 2am, and I was surprised to receive similar fine of £100.

Have been attending Royal Free Hospital for over six years for medical attention and have never been fined for parking after 6pm to 6am, why this change? Is the hospital running out of funds and therefore finding aggressive means to siphon money from sick people?

What a shame?

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback and we are sorry you were unhappy with your experience of our parking services. We have operated 24/7 parking charges since 2003. There has, however, been a change to the way we monitor it. We now have a numberplate recognition system rather than operating pay and display parking with manual patrols. The new numberplate recognition system is more appropriate for a hospital environment as it ensures that patients can pay for the parking that they use and not have to anticipate how much time they will require. In addition, the new system enables payment to be made by other methods. Whereas previously it was a cash-only system, payments can now be received by card, cash, text or by downloading an app. Blue badge holders receive four hours of free parking in the designated blue badge bays near the Pond Street and A&E entrances. All we require is for the badge holder to register their attendance with the security or main Pond Street reception and their stay will be validated. They do not need to return to their vehicle and can just continue to their hospital appointment.
