"Service as inpatient"

About: Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary

(as the patient),

I have been admitted more than 8 times in past 18 months. On the whole care has been excellent

Why do you no longer have 'named nurses"?

Why do different ranks of nursing staff not have clearly defined differential uniforms?

Why are we not given an 'experience' questionnaire to complete on discharge?

Food is excellent!

Dear Redbreast

Thank you for kind comments regarding your stays in Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary. We are delighted that you had such excellent care.

We have tended to move away from a named nurse and towards team nursing for better continuity of care, however we are currently considering whether it would be right to go back to the named nurse system.

Current nursing uniforms were introduced nationally a number of years ago and indicate the Senior Charge Nurse in navy blue, with others as either registered or non registered nursing staff.

The questionnaire was replaced by the national patient survey but we do have systems whereby staff seek feedback from patients on what has gone well and what would have made their stay better, however this is not routine for all patients and tends to focus on a snap shot throughout the year.

Once again thank you for your comments. We are always keen to receive feedback from patients regarding their experiences in order to make improvements to our services across NHS Dumfries and Galloway.

Best wishes
