"Disgusted with the way my daughter has been..."

About: Derriford Hospital

My daughter was advised by her dr to contact the hospital as she was on open access and they could not find her babies heart beat, which she did. A dr found heartbeat and as you can imagine my daughter was very relieved at this but as she had been having on going problems they said they were going to scan her, she was left in waiting room for 5 and half hours only to be told that they were now not going to do the scan, this is absolutley disgusting treatment of a worried pregnant young woman, I am so angry and cannot believe that they can treat people like this just awful. I wouldn't blame my daughter if she took this to the papers/news.

Good afternoon

I am sorry to read of your daughter's experience at what was clearly a very worrying time for her. I know that the Head of Midwifery would want to look into the concerns you have raised through Patient Opinion. I can be contacted via the Patient Advice and Liaison Service inbox at plh-tr.PALS@nhs.net and would encourage you to raise your concerns with the Trust in order that as an organisation, we can look into the circumstances and respond to you and your daughter about the events that took place. I am very sorry for the concerns you have all experienced as a family.

Kind regards

Mary

Further to my previous posting, the Head of Midwifery has come back to me to reassure you that she would welcome more details from you in order to look into your daughter's experience. I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

Mary
