"I helped shave other patients at the Northern General"

About: Northern General Hospital

(as the patient),

I was on Firth 9 ward. I felt everything was so chaotic, so many people. My wife took me.

I thought the nurses were great, great medical care also.

Cleanliness was average.

I am 72 years of age and don't believe its as good as previous years.

I felt it was disorganised e.g. serving tea with breakfast, whilst a women was mopping - chaos.

I ended up shaving 2 men on the same ward as me because the nurses were overstretched. A male nurse on the ward didn't appear to be pulling his weight and he didn't seem to speak to the patients with respect.

I observed a patient waiting for days for his medication.

Overall the nurses were very good, but overstretched. All staff were great.

The surgeon who came to see me was on the ball and explained everything to me. He explained that a biopsy was needed to find out what caused the bleeding.
