"Care and Compassion"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

A friend of ours 94 years old has just spent 2 nights in ward 33 . On arriving at the hospital Sunday no one was around to explain where to go be be booked in.No one on reception that was closed. After trailing round the hospital for nearly 2 hours we arrived at the ward. Hallelujah we thought. We left him in the care of a nurse who said. Don't worry we will take good care of him. He was left 4 hours alone in a room without any explanation as to what to do. He does not frequent hospitals being an old soldier he normally soldiers on. Come on nurses on ward 33 where is your care and compassion , do you not know how to look after the elderly any more. We received a phone call to pick him up only after he broke down on the ward and threatened to discharge himself. On arriving at the hospital we found him leaning against a wall very distressed. He went through hell in the war now to have to go through it again in this way. Come on Pinderfields this is not a third world country. Oh by the way don't think you can ring to inquire about your loved ones. The switchboard does not seem to be staffed.. After several calls I was finally put through to the ward, but guess what no one answers the phones here either..
