"breast feeding mums support"

About: John Radcliffe Hospital

My 3 week old son was admitted to a paediatric general ward for help with broncholitis recovery. My son is exclusively breast fed. Paediatric general wards do not have "budget" for feeding parents. Therefore I had to leave him to go and buy food to ensure I had the milk supply to feed my son. Apart from providing a bed and oxygen, the ward did not have to supply us with anything. Bit concerning and more than borderline ridiculous. I work and pay taxs and would expect to be supported in providing milk for my infant son.

Thank you for raising your concerns regarding the recent admission of your baby son to the paediatric general ward. I was very sorry to hear that you found your experience on the ward less than satisfactory and we would be happy to investigate the issues you have raised and provide you with a response. If you would like us to do this, please do not hesitate to contact me, Deborah Dunn, Complaints Operational Manager on 01865 223257 or at complaints@ouh.nhs.uk and I will be happy to discuss the complaint process with you.
