"Poor communication at Southport General"

About: North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust Southport & Formby District General Hospital

(as a relative),

My husband was admitted via ambulance to the Southport General hospital for the treatment of cancer. Initially it was thought that he would be going to the Clatterbridge hospital, but there was a mix-up with the ambulance arrangements.

He was spoken to in a very rude manner by a young doctor, who said 'You have cancer and there is nothing we can do for you. We will not be resuscitating you if anything happens.' He was told that it was too late for treatment and the following week he passed away.

My husband could not speak well because of the cancer and he felt very angry and upset that he had been spoken to that way and so too did I.

After the young doctor went away, I then went to find him and told him that he had been very insensitive and he then realised that he had not dealt with the situation very well.
