"A & E Department "

About: Worcestershire Royal Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

Details are in email I sent Worcester News as the service in A & E was wonderful.

Dear Worcester News,

I read today's article on page 4 "Stop carping about the NHS" plea by top medics.

I felt I must contact you to make you aware that although I accept not everyones treatment in the NHS hits the perfect category, life isn't black and white and I'm sure this isn't due to the effort of 99. 99% of NHS staff.

Last Thursday I was involved in an minor explosion which resulted in some nasty burns to my face.

From the second I arrived at Worcester Royal Infirmary A&E I was treated with respect, non judgemental, warmth, thoughtfulness, professionalism, care etc. this was not just from the Doctor but the wonderful young lady on reception who speedly assessed I need urgent care (on arrival)to the tea lady (towards the end of my care) who was kind enough to give me a straw due to my badly burnt lips.

The Doctor was a young man a Dr Lloyd Cottrell and the nurse was called Leanne, even though I was in lots of pain they politely told me their names. They then explained what they were going to do and it speaks volumes I remembered their names.

The Doctor was straight into his care quickly with great confidence, there wasn't a second I thought does he know what he is doing. I was quickly given morphine and a special mask put on my face to allow the heat to be drawn from my face.

The public are really lucky to have a wonderful NHS and I can only thank them from the bottom of my heart. It is really important that the general public write into Mr Peter Pinfield with the good experiences so to balance the books.

I will be forwarding this email to Mr Pinfield too.

Yours sincerely
