"Communication problems at Rotherham"

About: Rotherham Hospital / Cardiology

(as a relative),

My partner's mother was booked in for cataract surgery and turned up for her surgery only to be confronted by the bed manager who asked why she had not come in 3 weeks previously to A3 to do with her heart but not really given a clear explanation as to why.

She knew nothing about this at all and was quite distressed as she had never been contacted by phone or by mail and despite being almost 70 she is very together and never misses any appointments.

So she was told to turn up to PIU the following Monday which she did. She attended at 9.15am and sat on the ward until after 4pm before a doctor came to see her. Apparently no-one knew why she was coming in. She has been through a lot over the years and has done nothing but praise the hospital but this time was inexcusable.
