"Communication problems"

About: Basildon University Hospital

29th July I saw my gp and was absolutely delighted with her excellent service , blood tests , referral and scans were booked within a couple of days . I explained to my gp that I had private medical insurance and she assured me because of the nature of my complaint I would be dealt with quickly . I was sent for scan at purfleet medical centre , saw gynacologist at basildon who then requested another one , she told me I would be dealt with very quickly and another internal one was done , op was then booked , then duplicate appointment to see another gynacologist ( not required ) . I then received a letter stating I was going to be operated on 27th sept pre assessment required in 16 th sept . Great news i cancelled a holiday , arranged for staff cover at my business and my husband re arranged his calender to accommodate this op . I attended basildon day unit on16th as requested and on attendance was told that I should not be there and that my op had been re scheduled for late October. I became extremely upset and went back to gynecology dept to again be told that the operation could not go ahead as the doctor was on holiday leave and also another patient with cancer had been bumped up the list . I explained again that I had already offered to go private and that had made all these arrangements from info in writing by yourselves . I run my own business and this holiday procedure and lack of communication is completely unacceptable and a waste of tax payers money . When I arrived home the letter canceling that days appointment was on the mat . I have made arrangements to go private now the op is being done to allow my business to keep running . However I now have to endure another intrusive examination and scans which have to be done again unnecessarily as the NHS will not share data with the private sector . I now feel I have completely wasted my time , your time and NHS money lets hope your specialist enjoys her late booked holiday unaware totally of the disruption she has caused me . Tina underwood
