"Discharged"

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

I was attending Queens for diagnosis on my bicuspid aortic heart valve. I was attending evry appoiuntment given until suddenly I was sent 3 different changes. The last one i did't recieve and then went on holiday. On return I attended on what I thought was the correct date only to discover I had been discharged due to not attending an appointment. on checking various letters it appears another had arrived whilst away and me skim reading it had read the wrong date the correct one being 8/8/13 not 5/9/13. I was told nothing could be done you are discharged. i was then told maybe the secetary of the Doctor/consultant could re instate you. i have been to PALS and they have tried to get hold of her/him without success as of today. As you can imagine I am quiet worried. I will be trying again today to find out what is happening.

I am sorry to hear there was confusion around your appointment dates. I do hope that PALS have been able to help you resolve this for you, but if that is not the case, please contact me so that I can look into this further for you. We do have enormous problems with people failing to keep their outpatient appointments, costing the NHS millions of pounds a year. For this reason, we have systems in place, along with most other NHS Trusts, to discharge people if appropriate. Yours sincerely, Dr Mike Gill Medical Director
