"It can be difficult for people who dont speak English to get the services they need."

About: North Manchester General Hospital / Cardiology North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust

(as other),

My client who only speaks Chinese was to attend the Audiology Clinic at the North Manchester hospital. I arranged transport (ambulance) for her by phone. However, they did not turn up on that day. She had been waiting in the reception of her flat for the whole morning. After contacting the hospital, they said that according to their record they had sent an ambulance and a driver had been there. My client missed the appointment and the hospital sent a final letter for her saying that they won't arrange any transport or interpreter for another appointment. Our project had to arrange an interpreter and transport (volunteer) for her so that she did not miss the appointment.

My client is living on her own and she can't speak English. She is frail and has difficulty walking. She was very sure that no ambulance arrived on that day, since she waited from 9am until 1pm for the service to arrive, and this is not the first time she has used this service. As a charity organisation Wai Yin is happy to help people but can the PCT and hospital do something directly with the departments concerned?
