"My daughter is on ward 60 of HRI"

Last night my daughter was admitted to HRI ward 60 from out of hours with intense stomach pain. At approximately 11:30 she was seen by a doctor who gave her a painkiller and said he did not think that it was appendicitis. He ordered a scan and said he would get Gynaecology to examine her. She had the scan at 10am the next morning. So far faultless treatment by the doctors and nurses on ward 60. But at 4:30pm I had to ask a nurse what was happening because my daughter still had not been seen by Gynaecology. It was only then that I discovered that it was not appendicitis. Nobody had actually had the decency to tell her this. I was told that Gynaecology was always busy and that somebody would see Heather as and when they could. It is now 9:15pm on the same day and she still has not been seen by gynaecology. So she is still lying in bed, drugged up with painkillers with none of us any the wiser as to what is actually wrong with her. That is nearly 12 hours since her scan. My impression that doctors in HRI have their own little Kingdoms where they are all powerful and that it is both an intrusion and inconvenience when a patient so much as dares to need their attention has now been reinforced. You all may be busy but don't tell me that you cannot have the common decency to see a patient elsewhere when needed. I am a strong advocate of the NHS and understand the your doctors and nurses do great work. But I am also aware that your treatment of patients is abysmal.
