"Don't knock your local hospital! or we won't even..."

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

As a patient of the Blackburn Hospital i have read the local papers and watched the news and some of the headlines frightend me and put me off coming to the hospital for treatment. Do not listen to the scaremongers and reading just the headlines as they are just there to sensationalise nothing stories. Read all the story before making a decision as the Lancashire Telegraph just wants to sell papers by any means necessary and when reading the story you sometimes wonder what was the point of wastng my time on this story. If you have any common sense, trust your local hospitals as they are there to make you get better not make it worse. I have been into the Emergency Department and had to wait. I have seen people come in after me and be seen before me. Yes i might grumble and think what's going on , But their is a reason, i know that they are in worse trouble than me and that i am waiting because an ambulance has just turned up with someone who needs treatment quicker. At the end of the day i know i will be treated and looked after by the doctors and I must tell the doctor all the issues not the information he might think I need to give. Be honest with the doctors and nurses and they will help. I know sometimes that we all get tired and short tempered, and we all cope in different ways so if the nurses and doctoos are laughing remember they are letting of steam and we have to remember what they are dealing with all the time! I would like to say that I have had treatment in the hospital and from the moment you enter the hospital to the friendly face at the reception and walking though the clean corridors to the departments who are busy but will deal with you. On certain occasions i have arrived early and been seen before my appointment with a good service from the nurses and doctors. Sometimes i have had to wait as patients before me have taken longer to be seen. At the end of day the Blackburn Hospital is my local hospital and i will continue use it as it is local convenient and easy to get to. The staff are friendly and good at their jobs and it is not the staff fault but the systems and governments fault in letting the NHS fall into the state it is. The staff are busy and yes all the headlines and bad publicity will affect them from time to time, but at the end of the day they are providing a proefessional service. I know i have patient choice but i will still use Blackburn and East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, as i will continue to support the hospital. if anything more support should be given to the hospital by the rest of the local NHS as the NHS should be a whole system and not in bits and bats as it currently is. GP's, out of hours, dentists and pharmacies are not working together and you need more work together to make sure patients have the care and support after hospital as well. The government should relax the targets and let the staff do their work!
