"A and E"

About: Rotherham Hospital

After a nurse rescued us outside and rushed my daughter straight into a n e things went down from there. My daughter had a slipped disk and sciatica causing her enormous pain, she had to wait for doctor, and was given 4 miligrams of co codamol, another painkilling drug and was told to wait for doctor... she was given entinox to use as and when... after approx 2 hours waiting the ain became unbearable and my daughter was writhing and crying and shouting out in pain as well as constantly breathing entinox, the nurse station was directly outside our bay and not once did any nurse come in to see if she was in need of help.... I had to go and ask for better pain relief and it was only because I demanded some pain relief that they went and got something... if I didnt go to get something then I truely think no one would have been concerned enough to enquire if everything was ok, which it was far from ok. The staff seemed pre occupied and were not concerned my daughter was screaming in pain... not impressed.... the care in the ward she is now on is good. This is an A and E issue..... terrible care.

Dear Anonymous

We have brought your story across from NHS Choices so that it also appears on Patient Opinion. Due to an error in our software, I'm afraid this was severely delayed, so the team at Rotherham Hospital has only just seen your story now.

I do apologise for this - it is entirely our fault.

Dear ellabbs, thank you for your feedback via NHS Choices. We are sorry that we have not been able to respond to you sooner, as explained on the response from Patient Opinion; it has been due to technical issues which are out of our control.

We are sorry to hear about your disappointment in the level of care which your daughter received in the Accident and Emergency Department, and would like to discuss this with you in more detail. If you would be willing to do so, we would be grateful if you would contact our Patient Services team on 01709 424461, who would be happy to investigate your experience further.

With best wishes,

Kerry
