"Summer break"

About: Chippenham Community Hospital

I was in some considerable pain after having stubbed my foot against the bed post. Arriving at the hospital I was held up in a small queue at reception mainly due to a man who although spoke little English was dealt with sympathetically. I was seen by a nurse within 30 minutes and told that I had dislocated my fourth toe and a possible fracture. Next to x ray to confirm fracture and then toe was firstly relocated and then strapped. Although I was offered pain relief I declined and my decision was treated with respect. All the way through I was consulted and informed of the way forward, even to the fact that I would be referred to Bath RUH for onward treatment and sure enough within 2 hours of returning home I had been contacted by them to arrange an appointment. Surely this local cottage hospital with limited resources should be commended for delivering a service that is essential to the local community in what is trying times for any government funded organisation. Well done Chippenham.
