"Trying to recover at Doncaster Royal was hard work"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary

(as the patient),

In 2005 I had a tumour removed at the Royal Hallamshire (see opinion on this). Afterwards I had a stroke and I was sent to Doncaster Royal to recover. I was in DRI for about 10 days and during this time I had to move ward three times. They wanted to move me a fourth time but I said No. I was on both medical and surgical wards. The surgical wards had many more nurses per patient than the medical so the care there was better. I felt that because I was recovering from an operation that had been carried out somewhere else no one ever really took responsibility for me. I saw lots of different doctors but never felt involved in what was being decided for me. And of course all the moving wards did not help at all. The surgical wards seemed clean but I felt the medical ones were not as clean.
