"not happy at all"

About: Southampton General Hospital

My son who is 15 months old fell over n cut his eye, called nhs said because of his age take him straight to a and e. When arrived was waitin at reception for roughly 5 mins. C triage nurse, said he should be seen by a doc. Arrived at 8 in evenin gave up as still hadnt been seen. There was other children a lot older and what I could c minor injuries but was seen before my son. As he is under 2 yrs of age I thought it was priority obviously I was wrong. I explained had 2 other children at home under age of 5. I think its disgusting I still hadnt been seen by 11.15 so I gave up. I will b takin him 2 the doctors 1st thing tomorrow wouldnt rate the hospital at all. Im ashamed of this country I really am. So thanks a lot nhs for all your help a absolute joke

We were sorry to read of your long wait in the Emergency Department and that you felt that other children were taking priority over your son. Staff in the department do have to prioritise all the patients according to their clinical needs and this is not always apparent to people who are waiting. We are sorry that this was not clearly communicated with you and your comments will be fed back to staff in the department.
