About: Whipps Cross University Hospital

I today visited the emergency eye clinic and can only describe my experience as a complete shambles. In arrival it took me 30 minutes to find parking when I asked a parking attendant I was told I needed to wait for a space. Given that I was attending A&E with a minor it wasn't an option but it was wait or get my car clamped. We finally found a space and on arrival at the reception no one acknowledged us we were passed an number and told to take a seat until our number was called. I then watched as the two people at reception proceeded to dispute one of their colleagues. 20 minutes passed until we were called for registration. We were then directed to the children's department. The nurse we first saw was very friendly and the consultant we saw should certainly take a leaf out of her colleagues book. We entered the consultation room, again no eye contact no introduction she told my 12 year old son -"I now examain you eye" she did so and what followed just shocked me. She turned the lights up and I spent the next 5 minutes having a discussion with the back of her head. Her phone rang and she ignored us. My son looked confused and and worried. Rather than reassure us all was ok she continued to write my sons notes up whist on the phone and the. Said "hold on I'll check" she then left us in the room for 5 minutes whilst she went to check something with her colleague. I then started to ask her how long his condition will last and without even letting me finish my sentance she said 1 week! When is the NHS going to start listening to us. I will never return to Whipps Cross Hospital, I thought that things were getting better. This consultant should be ashamed to call herself a caring Dr! Shocking I'm sure this will go nowhere do you even care?
