"concussion/drunk night out"

About: Derriford Hospital

i am a married mother of two aged44 and believe i had my drink spiked on a rare night out . i was taken to a&e after falling unconcious and needing medical assistance. the treatment i received on coming around in the morning was appalling. i was made to feel like a low life and scum and was the care i received was certainly not nursing standards. i also work in the care profession with mentally ill people and would never dream of making any of them feel the way the nurses treated me that morning (and the people i look after are alcoholics!!) i was told to get in the shower and she reluctantly offered me assistance which i declined because i felt as if i was already being a nuisance being there. i then cleaned myself up and sat in a chair not really sure what to do next and another nurse came in to me and asked who was coming to collect me .I then told her my husband would come and get me so she phoned my home number and it went straight to answerphone she then became irritated and asked me who else could come and get me she asked me if my parents could come and i replied that they were both dead and then she started to become more irritated just as my husband came in . Thank god! i was very very ill all night saturday but refused to go back there even though my husband begged me to go back and get checked out. i eventually managed to get out of bed on the wednesday 5 days after the accident .Apart from giving birth twice i have never been in hospital and i am absolutely petrified now of ever having to go back in. I was scared vulnerable and extremely disappointed with the way i was treated and just thank god every day i am a healthy human being because i certainly wasnt made to feel like a human being in there.
