"Replacement hip surgery, before, during and after ..."

Having being diagnosed with hip dysplasia in early 2012 by a charismatic surgeon via my excellent GP I awaited steroid injections with trepidation. My condition worsened very quickly and hip replacement became essential before even the first injection took place, this having been delayed by my holidaying in France. A pre-operative assessment prepared me for the operation to come and allayed my many fears. Nursing staff and physiotherapists were approachable, friendly and well-informed. They listened to my questions and concerns and addressed them all, very much putting my mind at rest. The operation was over before I had chance to excessively worry and all staff were friendly, reassuring and professional. I woke up to the face of the same nurse who had guided me through my ' pre-op ' and feeling remarkably alert I was returned to my room. The care during my first 12 hours post-surgery was amazing and made me feel so safe ! I was an in-patient over 3 nights and the continuity of care was superb. The entire staff.. receptionists, surgeons, hostesses, physiotherapists, radiographers, clerical staff and those fantastic and so-patient nurses ( day and night ).. all share the same superlatively high standards of care. After my discharge to home I had a few dilemmas regarding my new hip, a phone call was always answered and appropriate advice given or sought. After 6 weeks a final x-ray and consultation confirmed that my surgery had been successful. Sent on my way with a big smile on my face but knowing that any problems or concerns ' do not hesitate to give us a call '. Thank you one and all.
