"Care & parking"

About: Wansbeck Hospital

Anything else?

Would just like to say I've had the worst few weeks ever and it got worse yesterday. My partner and I have been travelling up from sheffield to the wansbeck hospital visiting my mam and on chrismas Eve we travelled up there to hospital and then went to my dads then revisited her later that day giving my dad ( who is a blue badge holder) a lift through as he has been visiting twice a day some days so we took the pressure off a bit. So we parked in a disabled parking bay displaying his blue badge as he was a passenger in our car. Recently she was transferred to the palliative care unit paying for the first visits then we were told to register as things was not good for my mam. And Sadly yesterday morning she passed away and we returned home to sheffield to a £70 parking ticket from Christmas Eve. On the plus side I cannot praise the staff enough on PCU in my mams final hours. I have seen that If I get in touch you could sort this out.

Dear Cilla I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mum. Can I send my condolences to you and your family; this must be a very difficult time for you all. Thank you for your very kind words about the team on PCU, I know they will mean a great deal to them all and I will make sure they get to read them. I am really sorry that you have not a good experience of the parking system at the hospital. Please email me at Joanne.Mackintosh@northumbria-healthcare.nhs.uk so I get a few more details from you as I would very much like to help. Best Wishes Jo

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.

With all best wishes,

Annie
