Anything else?
I was referred as an emergency with suspected appendicitis. I was admitted to the SRU ward for assessment and following my operation to remove my appendix I was transferred to Kingswood ward. My 10 day stay was not without moments of despair at the lack of communication and I had times where I felt vulnerable but I have to commend the hard working staff who took care of me when I was unable to do very much for myself. If there is any criticism to be made it is that staff are having to work extremely hard to cope with the number of patients in their care. The staff on Kingswood Ward, especially the health care assistants did not stop! They, in my opinion, are the 'nurses' in today's NHS. The qualified nurses and doctors, through no fault of their own , are far too busy having to tick the right boxes and manage the wards to have time for old fashioned bedside care. I would like to say a big thankyou to everyone on Kingswood , including the cleaning and catering staff for the kindness and care they continually showed me during my stay. well done all! X
