Anything else?
I fell and damaged my ankle just before Christmas, two days before I was due to travel by air for a family holiday. I went to the unit and was seen, treated and sent on my way within 50 minutes - in that time I saw the triage nurse, a doctor and had an X-ray. I could not fault anything at all about my treatment, which was prompt, courteous and caring. The next morning I received a telephone call to say that after further examination by a consultant, the X-ray had shown a small chip on the bone. As I was very keen not to alter my travel plans, it was agreed that I should have a telephone conversation with the consultant. He rang me back within a few hours and after a discussion, we agreed that as the damage was so minor, I would be able to fly without further visits to the hospital. My ankle has improved steadily over the holiday period. I would like to thank the staff of the unit for this amazing service - and of course, my gratitude to the NHS!
