"Concerns at West Heath"

About: West Heath Hospital

Anything else?

Our mother was on ward 12 for 3 weeks. She was always complaining that the staff ignored the buzzers when someone pressed for assistance and we just thought she was just having a moan. She was always saying about the way some members of staff treated her and other patients but we just brushed it off that was until we saw it for ourselves at visiting times. We actually timed it and it was almost 15 minutes before a buzzer was answered and another time it was 10 minutes before any one answered the buzzer to a lady who was in the toilet, this poor lady could have had a fall for all they knew. The staff are thin on the ground but this is no excuse, and some of them are quite abrupt and don't have much time for patents, I know a lot a people have no choice in where they have to go, but I would defiantly never recommend West Heath as an option. To anyone who’s parent or family member have no choice but to stay in here, then if they have problems please speak up for them.

I am very sorry to read of your poor experience and observations of care whilst visiting West Heath Hospital. Your feedback has been passed to the Matron to discuss with the ward team at the earliest opportunity. In order to take as much learning as possible from your feedback it would be helpful to discuss your visit in more detail, and therefore ask you to contact Alison Last, Associate Director of Patient Experience via email to alison.last@bhamcommunity.nhs.uk or phone 0121 466 7128 at your convenience. Thank you.
