About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital

Anything else?

Arrived at A&E with pain in foot and being unable to stand on it. Saw triage nurse who asked why I had attended. She said she needed an X-ray and as I had not fallen or banged my foot she would have to make up a story which she could enter onto the Computer that I had suffered a trauma. I had an X-ray and another nurse looked at X-ray results and informed me that I had not broken any bones from the vase dropped on my foot!! I was astonished that no medical history was taken. If it had been they may have notices I had had a blood test on the Friday which showed my Esr was raised and I was in fact suffering from gout. I was discharged with no care plan and no medication. It was my own GP who made the diagnosis of gout. On my medical notes at the hospital it states I had suffered a soft tissue injury!! I have telephoned and complained to the Matron but I have been left in agony and with not receiving the proper treatment left in considerable pain.

I am very sorry you feel the Trust has let you down. I note you have already spoken to the Matron and I will ensure that she also receives a copy of these comments. If you would like to speak to someone in our Patient Relations department, you can do so by contacting 01253 655589, they will be able to register your concerns and ensure that they are thoroughly investigated. Regards Andrea
