I was referred to Parklands hospital after trying to take my life twice in 24 hours. The treatment I got from the night staff was awful.
After talking a second overdoes in 24 hours I was taking to Winchester A&E for the second time, I said to the staff if I go I will do it again- my mental health and this point was not good because I had stopped talking my anti depressants for 3 days after having a head injury and not knowing I was taking them. I was than admitted to Parklands Hospital, brought there by an ambulance (They did there job and were respectable). When I arrived at Parklands I was met by the staff, after being shown to my room, I was giving the choice of talking my anti- depressant and this other table which I didn't know what it was, the staff said it was to relax me. After being search, my bag and all, they had to search me because they thought I was hiding something from them-which it was just the shape of my body.
I was very scared but the staff didn't seem to care, in the unit the doors are locked and the patience's are not allowed out but I tried the door and it opens as someone didn't close it properly. I went down stairs to the door I came in at and the man at the desk by the door said they don't open to the morning. At this point I started to look for other ways out, before I knew it this woman (one of the staff) was walking towards me looking very angry, she grabbed me and this man forced me back to the unit by holding me and picking me up. I feel this is totally unacceptable!
In the morning other staff came in and the night ones left. When it was my turn to see the doctor, she was understanding and talked to me like a human- not like the night staff I spoke to. In the end they got me a taxi back home and I was followed up by the home team, a nurse came to see me that evening and game me a few numbers if I needed to talk to someone, and that everyday someone will just ring up to see if I was ok, that happened for 2 days and then it was the weekend and they said there not going to ring up any more.
