"Out of hours visit from a Doctor on New Years Eve."

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / NHS 111

(as the patient),

I was very worried as I have Crohn's Disease and was suffering from a lot of pain. It was New Year's Eve and the weather was awful. I phoned the 111 Service and the lady I spoke to was very kind, professional and Caring. She took all my details and said a Doctor would call me back. He did so very quickly and came out to see me a distance of about 21 miles. He was reassuring and gave me a pain killing injections as well as steroids and anti-sickness injection. He examined me and new about Crohn's Disease.

My mother passed away just after Christmas Day and she had a simular illness as me. Although it's a scary time for me I have to say the Service from the minute I picked up the phone was second to none and amazing. Big Thank you to all those involved.

Dear Rob M

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am glad you were happy with the service you recieved at what must be a very difficult time for you. I sincerely hope you are feeling much better.

It is always rewarding to hear that our staff are continuing to provide excellent care to our patients when they need us most.

I would very much like to pass your kind comments onto the call taker at 111 and the Urgent Care Service doctor who assisted you on New Years Eve. In order to do this I will need a little more information from you. Could you please contact me, at your convenience, on 01392 453831 or email laura.martin@swast.nhs.uk.

Kind regards

Laura
