"Lack of wheelchairs available at Sandwell Hospital"

About: Sandwell General Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

When my mother was sent to hospital on Monday as a referral from her GP we were told there were no wheelchairs available. A porter was called to bring one down to A&E but it never appeared.

I had to leave my mother and search the hospital for one. My mother was seriously ill and dehydrated and this was a terrible experience for her. She waited two days for a scan and still no diagnosis.

I am sorry to hear about your experience. This is not the sort of service we aim for in our Trust. I hope that your Mum makes a full recovery and that any future experiences you have with us are much better. Toby Lewis, Chief Executive
