"Removal of 2 IMPACTED lower wisdom teeth...."

About: Royal Liverpool University Dental Hospital

Anything else?

Had both lower wisdom teeth removed this morning at Liverpool Dental Hospital. I had a General anaesthetic and operation took 1 hour. Awoke with stiches in both sides and not much pain as they 'freeze' areas with a local anaesthetic once your asleep so immediately after you wake there is not much pain at all as whole mouth was numb. I was collected at 2pm having arrived at 8am...you have to be collected by an adult following a general anaesthetic. I have been able to eat soup at 3pm and yogurt...drinking only water. The pain is now quit severe but I am using paracetamol, tramadol and ibuprofen at regular intervals. It is 9pm and my face has now begun to swell on both sides. The staff today were excellent ,the place was clean, the attitude of doctors and nurses was friendly and re-assuring at all times. (Male nurse in resuscitation area...very good nurse, informative and a credit to the hospital - many thanks) I was a little apprehensive about this procedure as I have had a few not so good dental experiences (Not at this hospital) and can say to anyone who is booked in for similar operation that it is not as bad as you think it will be,and all is explained to you,you are kept pain free and hopefully in 3-5 days I will be back to eating normally. Many thanks.
