"Absolutely disgusting"

About: Worthing Hospital

Anything else?

My mother, who has dementia, was rushed into hospital on Christmas Day. At the time I was in hospital myself (some 4 hours away). After initial contact with doctors and nurses, I was informed on the Friday afternoon, that my mother didn't want to speak to me and nor should I be given any details regarding her care. When I protested, reminding them that my mother suffers with dementia; I was informed rather haughtily by the lady from PALS, that a social worker was present and that my mother was deemed to be 'of sound mind'. I had to wait a further 2 days until my mother was discharged before she called me wanting to know why I hadn't been in contact!! She was extremely distressed when I told her what had happened. I intend to take this to the very top because this is disgusting.
