"Trafford out of hours doctors service"

About: Trafford Walk in Centre

(as the patient),

I needed to see a doctor as I had a UTI. First, I find it ridiculous that I live in Sale but the nearest out of hours doctor is at Trafford General. I don't drive so had to get the bus, fortunately it was Saturday and not evening time....but what about older people and non drivers etc?

Got to Trafford General and I waited nearly 2 hours, as I wasn't a priority my appointment kept getting pushed back. When I did get to see the nurse I was literally in and out with the antibiotics I needed. So why make me wait all that time? I was one of the quickest patients there and would have held nobody up if I had been given my appointment (I knew I would not walk in and be seen on time, that is to be expected but to be then made to wait while others who arrived after me I thought seemed a bit naughty). I had my 5 year old with me too. It's such a long time for kids to wait.

Why are out of hours services so bad? My Saturday was taken up with travelling and waiting. I work all week and don't have time to give this much of my time up at weekend.

We need more out of hours surgeries, no wonder A&E is overwhelmed.

The desk staff were fine, I actually feel sorry for them as people are constantly asking them when they will be seen as well as getting increasingly frustrated at having to wait so long. They actually deserve a medal for remaining calm and pleasant...can't be easy.
