"Ward 29 Stay"

About: Leicester General Hospital

Anything else?

I was referred to the urologist department by my GP to further investigate swelling in the groin area. The hospital is easy to find though getting to the ward is slightly confusing from the main entrance. On arriving the nurse showed me to the triage area and settled me down - I found her and the rest of the staff there to be friendly, polite and very supportive. I was pretty anxious since the GP mentioned I might have to have surgery but the nurses there helped relieve that - they took my details in a prompt manner, game me some pain medication and antibiotics and checked up on me regularly. I was seen pretty promptly by a doctor and then the consultant and they were very professional and clear with me - the ultrasound scan was done in the next 4 hours after it was determined I would not need immediate surgery and again the staff there were really nice and helped relieve my tension. I was discharged on the same day with the initial doctor seen giving me a clear treatment plan and overall I had a good experience with the staff in what was a very anxious time for me.
