Anything else?
I had 2 hernias that were treated at north downs. During my stay I had interaction with the most awful nurses. My operation was very severe because of my job and I had 8 holes in my stomach. I was sitting up right for 9 hours after my operation. The nurse came in in the morning and said to me "oh you can't sit like that, support yourself" I panicked as I was completely incapacitated. Couldn't hold my own head let alone my upper body. She lowered the bed at a reasonably fast pace while she kept telling me to support myself. I was screaming and swearing in pain and my stomach was completely stretched out flat. It was the worst pain I have ever endured. From sitting up to having my stomach stretched was horrendous. She came in an hour later and said "have you manned up yet?" I was completely embarrassed and didn't have an answer. I felt helpless. Since then I have had to travel back to north downs and see the emergency surgical team who told me that the lumps and swelling are from severe trauma. The lumps appeared about 1-3 hours after I was laid flat by the nurse. For 6 days I couldn't get dressed couldn't put my socks on literally still incapacitated. My surgeon told me he was horrified by the way the nurse has treated me. That they think it's just a little operation and I should be ok. If they had read my notes or communicated properly they would have known that I had 2 8inch gauzes riveted and stitched the my stomach muscles. To prevent the same thing happening again, as I said, because of my job. I was an NHS patient and did not ask to be put in a private hospital but I will never ever be returning for any other treatment of any kind. Very disappointed and demoralised by my experience.
"Very unhappy"
