"Very impressed !"

About: Pilgrim Hospital

Anything else?

I fell 20 ft from a ladder and broke my femur so I was a bit beat up to say the least ! When the ambulance crew told me I was going to the pilgrim I was filled with a little bit of dread because of the bad press it has suffered over the years . The A&E team went to work straight away and kept me talking all the time telling me what was going on and what treatment they were giving me . i had my Xrays , CT and then straight in theater to put a large rod or nail into my femur. When I woke a nurse was there to explain what was going on and what all the pipes plugged into me for (I was a little disoriented) . Over the next 12 hours they had me on my feet and walking with crutches which totally blow me away and now I home and can start the long journey to recover. It's not going to be easy but thanks to everyone at the Pilgrim who help me and worked with me I feel I have a head start . Really can't see what people are talking about , it ain't perfect but it did an excellent job with me ! Thank you very much.

Thank you so much for leaving us your feedback - I have passed it onto the A&E and orthopaedic teams and I know they will be really pleased to read it. I am sorry that negative press in the past caused you some anxiety - whilst we admit our failings and have done some fantastic work it is a sad fact that the good news stories rarely get seen and as your experience has demonstrated there are many many patients who have had excellent care at Pilgrim Hospital and we are really proud of this and of our staff. I am glad you are on the road to recovery - take your time and keep your spirits up; you'll get there! Wishing you and your family a lovely (& safe) Christmas. Jennie Negus. Deputy Director of Nursing
