We recently attended with our son, and he was quickly diagnosed with a .collapsed lung. The staff at a and e and x ray department were swift and extremely professional in their response and diagnoses .all decisions and processes were clearly explained. It was thought best to put in chest drain and see if condition could self heal, he went to ward K 3 . My husband and I constantly felt that our sons needs were utmost in the mind of all staff at the hospital . The respiratory team were always checking. His condition, the on call doctors up to date with his progress and the nursing staff are the most attentive and hardworking people I have met . The catering was of a excellent standard, and staff very considerate. The ward and hospital were spotless, and again the staff very considerate and accommodating, whilst doing their tasks around the ward. My son eventually had an operation, and again, all procedures, risks and outcomes fully explained by both surgical and anaesthetic staff. The pain relief team gave attention and were on hand if needed, the porters prompt and excellent in mangling trips around the building. In all, during a stressful time , we realised just how lucky we are to have this facility, and staff available, quite possibly one of the best children's hospitals and team in the world . Our son is safe and well and we can never thank them enough.
