"Different from being at home"

About: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Mental Health Services for Older People – Inpatient

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Posted on behalf of a Patient on Cherry Ward, Highbury Hospital:

Very different from being at home. I would like to go and leave you all asap. Quite happy with the staff. Do not like the food.

Has waited over 2 hours for a cigarette, was told by staff that they were too busy, became very upset because needed a cigarette.

Along with the Head of Involvement (Paul Sanguinazzi), I am responsible for the Trusts two Involvement Centres, and our Volunteering and Befriending Service. I help to report all of the feedback we receive as a Trust to the Board.

Thanks for helping to gather comments at the Highbury Listening event.

All comments gathered at the Listening Event are being shared with the senior management team who oversee Highbury services, and I'm sure they or a responsible manager will respond in more detail shortly.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and for the positive comments about the staff.

I have asked the Matron for older people to look at the food with the catering staff to see how it can be improved and to get back to me by the middle of January.

I'm sorry that you felt that you felt that you had to wait too long for a cigarette, there is a Trust policy in relation to smoking and this can sometimes cause delays for patients.
