About: Worthing Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked:

I have had experiences in several hospitals from Margate, in Kent, Brighton and Worthing and I considered my experiences in Worthing to be of a very high standard on the wards, in the x-ray department and in the A&E department but most of all in Theatre. There will always be problems with individual staff and there were a few problems with this, particularly with a breakdown of communication through language barriers with some individuals, which can be frustrating and potentially dangerous. Overall however, I considered it to be far better than Brighton and much cleaner and cannot praise the staff in theatres enough for the level of care they provided and also Crusade ward which I was on for the most part of my stays.

What could be improved? Generally compared to most hospitals I would say that most of Worthing hospital is a success, the area which I fell may need some improvement is the department for scanning where I was left second guessing at the 12week scan of my pregnancy which turned out to follow my Husbands and my worst fears. Being our first pregnancy and being very excited I certainly did not expect to have the nurse/radiographer to react the way they did and then not bother to explain what they were talking about. When asked she did give some explanation, not what I expected to hear and we were not offered any further help or information, just left to go away unsure, scared and anxious. That is my only major complaint with Worthing hospital.
