"Radiology Dept."

About: Salford Royal

Anything else?

I cannot get hold of anyone in Radiology- they are not answering phones. I suspect they are sitting around chatting - this would not surprise me as i generally receive no assistance from Local Government/council depts. I am a dentist who wishes to refer patients for CT scans. I can now see I will have to try an alternative hospital. This is very disappointing from the viewpoint of someone who is a customer and a tax payer

I am sorry to read that you have had difficulties in getting through to our Radiology Department. I can however assure you that any difficulties you have had would not have been down to staff sitting around chatting. As a fellow healthcare professional, I am sure you will recognise that a hospital is a very dynamic environment and on occasions, it may not always be possible for a colleague to pick up the phone. Although we are not aware of any issues with the phones for that department, if you email our PALS team (PALS@srft.nhs.uk) they can check you have the correct numbers. In addition, you did mention the reason for contacting the hospital in the first place was to refer patients for CT scans. I can advise you that generally, requests for CT or MR scans would not be accepted from either GPs, dentists etc. Such diagnostics are generally only performed here on request from a hospital consultant.
