About: King's Mill Hospital

Anything else?

I was treated at kingsmill after a planned amputation being done at Qmc .i have no real complaints until I was getting ready for discharge.there was concern as to weather my wheelchair would get through the doors at the property.on my home visit the ot was very positive that we had a way round this problem.when we arrived at the house the tempory ramps that had been put in place were totaly unsuitable to gain accsess to my property and the wheelchair would just go through with. Force.after entry thee chair would not go through the doors so she decided that I would transfer from the wheelchair to a commode and then I would move the wheelchair into the kitchen and transfer into the kitchen.this I said was totaly dangerous.and was told I would be all sorted before my discharge.this was not the case though we went back to my ward and she said I would be give a smaller wheel chair befor discharge.within ten mins of her leaving a doctor came and said that I was being discharged as the home visit went so well the ot had informed them.when I said I was shocked they said ok would hav sorted everything. I had a further visit after discharge by the ot and her manager.i raised the issues with her of the wheelchair and she brushed everything under the carpet.and told me I was on the emergency wheelchair list and not to worry.i had purchased a wheel chair in the mean time that would allow me to acsess round downstairs.but didn't have a stump board I asked who I could get a stump board from.was told to ring the company and get one off them.but they didn't sell them they only sold the basic wheel chair.once again I phoned the ot and her advice was buy another wheel chair.i was now under wheelchair services in the community.who have told me I'm no longer a priority and didn't meet the criteria.i feel that the service I hav received from the ot services are totaly unacceptable not only for myself but for other patients.
