"Hospital waiting list for children's tooth extraction"

About: Barnsley Hospital / Oral surgery NHS Barnsley CCG

(as a parent/guardian),

There is 16 to 18 weeks waiting list for my 6 year old grand daughter who has already suffered tooth ache on and off for 6 weeks to have 2 molars with abscesses extracted under general anesthetic.

Our Dentist says he can take the teeth out but feels she is too young for a local anesthetic for 2 molars to be extracted. I also rang 111 they also advised to go to hospital and have a general anesthetic

My grand daughter has missed at least 2 days from school already, we have taken pain killer up to school for her, and today we brought her out of her xmas pantomime due to pain.

NHS appear to be lacking resources in this area.

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry to hear of the difficulties your grandaughter is facing. We will be happy to look into this further and liaise with the relevant department here at the hospital. We would prefer to deal direct with your grandaughter's immediate next of kin if possible and if you can give them our contact details on 01226 432430 or email barnsleypals@nhs.net with their contact details we will look into your concerns further. Kind regards Barnsley Hospital Communications Team
