Anything else?
Today my husband visited out patients and was seen by a doctor who was obviously sick with a cold/flu. The appointment was pre-arranged. Warning notices were clearly exhibited on doors to inform of winter vomitting virus, etc. I asked the doctor to wear a mask before examining my husband but no masks were available in the department. HCA eventually found a surgical mask from another area of the hospital. The doctor didn't know which way round to wear it and refused my help when I offered to assist her! I later Informed a staff nurse in the department to make sure a box of disposable masks were provided for use by the doctor. Considering patients are usually vulnerable when they visit hospial and should be treated with the utmost care and consideration, has it now reached the stage when they have to start wearing their own masks to protect themselves against infection carried by staff? Complacency at it's very best! I can't believe it could be allowed to happen in UK! Disgraceful.
"Patient needed proctecting from staff!"
