Anything else?
My wife had an occipital stroke on 7 November 2013, five weeks ago and has currently lost her left field of vision. We have today seen a Consultant for a follow-up consultation. We had not met before but it was clear after a few minutes that this was going to be one of the finest consultations we have had in 45 years of hospital treatment for rheumatoid arthritis and several other conditions. The Consultant addressed all our concerns, in this early stage of our recovery from the traumatic experience of a stroke. He is a compassionate professional who looks at his patients, talks quietly and explains everything in an appropriate and lucid way, for example using the patient notes to clarify what happened on admission and referring to his concern for my wife’s feelings. He took full account of her history of rheumatoid arthritis too. We came away with renewed optimism and a new plan for the next three months until we meet again.
