Anything else?
After injuring my neck in a freak accident I was taken to RSCH on a spinal board, with blocks and collar in place. I was treated well by the staff members and had xrays quite swiftly, however it then took a while for the xrays to be reviewed, to then be told something looked abnormal and that i would be admitted and need a scan to get a more detailed image. After the scan I got told I would have to wait to the morning for results, which was fine as i'd rather be safe than sorry. I was moved to CDU overnight and was very kindly given a side room so that I could get some sleep as there was a lot of screaming in the bay. I was in pain and after asking for painkillers was refused any(after being refused in A&E as well), understandable as was laying flat and if i had to have fasted it would have affected the timing of anything, however i'm sure I could have had IV paracetamol considering i had been immobilized for around 5hours by this point. I had also asked for some fluids or to wet my mouth as it was so painfully dry. I got told the only way I could have fluids was to have the bed tilted. I was shocked by the suggestion! I was in a collar and blocks and the nurse/HCA started to tilt the bed downwards without my permission and only stopped when i screamed as it was so uncomfortable. Luckily my scans were clear in the morning and i was allowed home, however I spent almost 15 hours in A&E and CDU combined without any painkillers or fluids. I usually don't have any complaints however was horrified from this experience.
