"Outpatients - opthalmic department"

About: Cheltenham General Hospital

Anything else?

The receptionist was abrupt and abrasive - not a good start if you were a nervous patient. My eyes were tested by an extremely uninterested member of staff - who was more interested in picking her nails than attending to what I was saying... the member of the specialist team was uncommunicative, uninterested and really dismissive. To be told that a Harley Street specialist was totally wrong in their diagnosis did not bode well. To be told he "could" operate but there was no guarantee that it would be successful (basically don't bother was the inference). No welcome - just pointed to where I was to sit; certainly did not tell me what he was doing. So all in all not a good experience and one that I certainly would not wish to repeat.

Dear Sir/Madam, Many thanks for taking the time to share this feedback. We're very concerned to hear about your experience in our ophthalmology department. Feedback from our patients is really important to us and helps us improve our services for future patients. Would you be happy to speak to our PALS team so that we can find out a little more about your experience and investigate further? You can call them on 0800 019 3282 or email pals.gloucestershirehospitals@glos.nhs.uk. Many thanks again for getting in touch. Best wishes The team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
