"Day Surgery - A very, tiring long day"

About: Royal Free Hospital

Anything else?

Arrived at 7.30am for Day Surgery, 3rd Floor North. Complete chaos. Everybody shoved in at once. I appreciate that the staff are overworked and work to the best of their abilities, however, at one point I was close to walking out. Very poor communication. Was seen by 3 different people at various times all asking me the same questions. Don't they or can't they be bothered to read my notes? Finally admitted to surgery at 4.35pm after waiting there for 9 hours to then be told I had to change quickly in readiness for surgery. The worst part was waking up and being sent back to the day surgery ward and having the misfortune of being in the middle of a changeover of nurses etc. Had to wait a further few hours to be sent home because it seemed that nobody was available to discharge me. Finally, left the god forsaken place at 9.45pm. Completely exhausted and couldn't wait to get home. I don't blame the staff but the lack of resources is very evident indeed. Welcome to the NHS!

I am sorry that you didn't have a good experience at the Royal Free. Thanks for taking the time to comment - feedback can really help us improve and I will make sure this is passed on to the team.
