"Excellent care."

About: Pilgrim Hospital

Anything else?

The level of care is good. This hospital is a very busy place serving a massive rural population. At times doctors and nurseing staff operate at the limits of human endurance. I cant fault them. They do an excellent job . One tends to forget the Accident and emergency department at weekends where the staff at times has to deal with drunken abusive/ violent idiots. I worked in security with dogs in the westmidlands and often got a call from my mates on security at certain hospitals there to back them up against very violent drunken people. Scary stuff at times especially with idiots on high powered drugs.

Thank you for your kind feedback – and for highlighting, as you say an often not considered fact about how difficult it can be at times in A&E departments. You are right that the staff sometimes have to deal with poor behaviour and with aggression and as a Trust we will not tolerate this – it can be difficult sometimes as there may be substance abuse issues or mental health issues and a person can still need urgent medical care; but if needs be we will contact the Police for support and we of course have clear guidelines to keep our staff safe. Thank you again for your feedback and your concern; it is much appreciated.
